Bulls will host Risborough Rangers at Springfield Stadium on 24th July, with a 3pm kick-off. The two teams were due to play one another last pre-season in Jersey however the fixture was cancelled due to Covid-19.

Commenting on the match, Risborough Rangers have said: “We are really looking forwarded to finally getting a game against the Bulls after not being able to fulfil the fixture last year due to Covid, fingers crossed everything is okay this time around. It’s the clubs 50th Anniversary this year so we have a big party descending on Jersey. Both teams can feel very unfortunate that after being unbeaten in the last two seasons the Covid pandemic has prevented the promotion and titles both teams richly deserve.

The 2019/20 season was extremely tough to take as we were so close to securing promotion and probably even more so for the bulls as they were so dominate in their league and we both deserved to be champions. With only 6 league games played of the 2020/21 season, it was disappointing for the season to be curtailed but we understand the situation and respect the decision made by the FA and the respective leagues.”

After not being able to play as a team since their last game on 10th October 2020 against Billingshurst in the FA Vase, the Bulls will be looking to hit the ground running in pre-season to give them the best chance in the 2021/22 fixtures.

“Pre-season games are crucial for everyone in the build-up to a new season. For us, the management team, we get the opportunity to try a few different things and more importantly for the players, it’s an opportunity to play. Preseason is always tough and having games on the weekend give a focus to everything we’re doing.

And fingers crossed the supporters will be back and it’ll be great them to get behind the team again.” Gary Freeman, Manager of Jersey Bulls, states.

Talking about his players, Freeman adds: “They’re all back playing with their local clubs and speaking to them, they’re desperate to get going again with Bulls. These pre-season games are a great incentive for them to show that they want to be in the team at the start of the new season.”

Jersey Bulls are currently unbeaten in 31 league games, with a 100%-win record. Similarly, Risborough Rangers have not lost a league game in two seasons, taking their tally of unbeaten games up to 29, which includes three draws. Both teams are keen for the FA to restructure the current football pyramid which could see them both moved up to step 5.

This match will be a great opportunity for both teams to prepare for the start of the new season and will be the Bulls’ second pre-season game of 2021 after they face Kettering Town (Step 2) the week before.
